June 2021 Book Picks--Travel and Adventure

It’s the end of the school year. After one year of hard work, we are sure to award ourselves and our children a nice trip! What are some nice books about travel and adventures? Find out some of our picks!

Do you have an impatient kid at home? This book teaches children how to be patient, especially on road trips. Waiting is not easy, but if you give the boring waiting a twist, you will find time actually flies pretty fast.

Isn’t it cool to have a travel buddy? You can take your buddy with you when you have a trip to run daily errands. Or you can take your buddy with you across countries. To make things better, you pass your buddy to other people on a trip to make other people feel better. To me, Knuffle Bunny is a symbol, a symbol for friendship, and a symbol for kindness.

When you travel by air, what will you encounter? This book teaches little kids everything about the airport and air travel. Parents can use this book to help their children prepare for air travel.

It can be overwhelming when you are forced to travel by yourself. However, little Swimmy adjusted his mind and explored the ocean happily. Eventually, Swimmy found his friends and helped them explore the world. Children will learn problem solving, cooperation and perseverance from this book.

The adventure from this book is through imaginative play. Henri used grandpa’s old uniforms to pretend to be a racer, a sailor, and so on. What we want our children to learn is that we should always have dreams and be adventurous.

This story is based on a true story. Every immigrant has his own special journey. Gittel was brave enough to finally reach her final destination by herself. In addition, the story also instills hope for the future. Do you have a special story about traveling to share with your children?

This is a story about an imaginative creature looking for his real world friends. This book is easy for children to relate to. Everyone wants to find a place where he belongs, to know a friend who he can play with, and to create a unique memory with friends. We are all Beekles.

What’s the meaning of traveling? I’m sure everyone has an opinion on it. After going faraway places, Miss Rumphius tried her best to make the world a better place. She planted Lupines to make the world look beautiful. She passed on her stories about faraway places to future generations to help children build some dreams. What will you do to make the world a better place?

For Bay area people, we can find something familiar from this book. For Bay area immigrants, we probably can find something that resonates with us. Sometimes, a journey can be a bittersweet experience. There is one silver lining though. We get the chance to experience different things from our journeys.
